I just got a message from a recent player with an xxxx-xxxx-xxxx code that he said was worth $50 dollars. I went to the PSN store, and it's valid, and says the following:
"This PlayStation Network Card has a value of $50.00. Do you want to add these funds to your wallet?"
I haven't accepted the funds, and have stayed on the menu with the Yes, No options available.
There's a reason I'm not going to share the code here, and that reason is hackers. I'm too scared to put the card onto my account in fear of either having information stolen from me or getting banned, which I read about the other day.
Does anyone have any input? This seems very strange.

" @NekuSakuraba: It's definitely a valid number, as it's showing up before the confirmation screen. There's no way I'm adding it to my account, though. Did your message say something about PlayStation's anniversary? "Hmmm, not sure, but It said I had to first send the message to all of my PSN friends. >__<
" I got the same message but I didn't put the code in. "Why not? If someone sent me a code, I'd definitely try it.
Edit: Here's the story.
" @Mikewrestler5: @Zella: @Zajtalan: @Mikewrestler5: There's something you're not understanding about the hacking war that's going on, aimed at Sony. Apparently, the hackers have found a way to un-ban themselves, and can ban others if they get certain information about your account or PlayStation. It seems odd that something like this would happen right after that news was announced. I'll look for the story now. "Just make a new account with no personal information attached and try out the code. I don't see how much harm it could do.
I got that message too. It's already been used, but the confirmation message still pops up. It's just a chain letter, ignore it. I'll post the code
i8ph-cibd-rk2h
Try it. It's invalid and no the hackers won't get you (yet)
" @iDarktread said:Nice work, information giver!" @Mikewrestler5: I'd be worried about getting my console ID found out or whatever, but it looks like Snapstacle just confirmed it doesn't work anyways. "Yep. And I used it on an ID that isn't tied to my PS3 either just for safety's sake. ;) "
