Overview
Software Planning & Development Group No.1 is the spiritual successor to the Nintendo R&D1 team. The group was created in 2003, after Satoru Iwata's internal restructuring at NCL.
R&D1 star designer and Metroid creator Yoshio Sakamoto is the general manager and chief producer of this development team responsible for development and production of several games including WarioWare, Metroid, Card Hero, Rhythm Heaven, and Tomodachi Collection.
The manager of SPD Group 1 is Katsuya Yamano.
