I get it. Shitting on Destiny is the cool thing to do. Especially around these parts apparently. I guess I'll give the community credit for not resorting to 'Deadstiny' or 'people still play this game?!?!' and just move on.
It's because it was disappointing, we were sold on its potential and it couldn't even rise to meet the quality of a single Halo campaign, it was supposed to be a huge interstellar story with something approaching MMO levels of content and cool lore. Very little of the lore was in the game, the story wasn't there, the missions were generic and badly designed, the raids were at least different but I didn't find the first one very interesting to replay and they dropped the ball in every other department. The DLC cost a lot of money and they still are reusing the same environments for missions in every single pack, when Jeff walked up to a console and held X and had a wave of enemies spawn behind him I actually was shocked they would even allow a mission to do that anymore after they seemed to have gotten the message that its lazy as fuck.
It's really incredible how much Bungie/Activision dropped the ball on this game, the gunplay is solid everything else is just shallow, it still blows my mind how proudly people proclaim that they dumped absurd amounts of hours into this. When the game launched the storyless campaign was over in a few hours and the first raid wasn't even there, once I finished that raid what the hell did everyone else go do? Play the one hit kill fest that is the competitive MP? Replay the same missions over and over or wander the same small maps grinding pickups forever?
They sold everyone on a Halo/Borderlands MMO and came out with a shitty Halo game with a terrible campaign with no story. Within 1 year my $60 dollar copy of the game was completely worthless, I either had to spend $80 to download all the DLC (You could not just get TKK) or go spend another $60 dollars on a game that I had "finished" in less than 20 hours. I really don't get what you would be doing for that many hours unless your just obsessed with the (awful) competitive MP.
I feel like everyone who defends it never played an MMO so this seemed like some kind of revelation on consoles.
